Waffledogs originated in Hawaii, but have spread thru the Phillipiines and Southeast Asia. It consists of a hot dog skewered on a stick, then dipped in waffle batter and cooked in a special waffledog iron. The result is a crispy, golden waffle encasing a juicy hot dog, creating a delightful contrast of textures in every bite.

In Hawaii, waffledogs are often enjoyed as a nostalgic treat, commonly found at fairs, carnivals, or local snack shops. They’re typically served plain, allowing the combination of the sweet waffle and savory hot dog to shine. Some variations might include a drizzle of syrup or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
